Strata wins Airbus contract

Abu Dhabi-based firm will provide wing components for Airbus A350

Abu Dhabi-based Strata has been awarded a contract to provide wing components for the Airbus A350.

This contract means Strata has secured work worth more than $1bn since it began operating in the summer 2010.

Strata is an advanced composite aircraft-structures maker and is the manufacturing arm of the emirate’s Mubadala Aerospace. The wing components are formally called flap-track fairings and Strata will now provide them for the Airbus A350. The contract was awarded by Belgian’s aerospace company Sabca, which was selected by Airbus in 2009 for the development and production of the flap mechanism and fairing assembly package of the A350.

Strata’s contract with Sabca will run for the duration of the A350 programme.
