Stuart Bowie

Position: Managing director - GAC Dubai

Biography: Bowie joined GAC in Dubai in 1993 and has enjoyed a variety of roles. He played a key part increasing the company’s volumes, market share and profits, helping to cement GAC’s reputation as a leading player in Dubai and throughout the Middle East.

In 2004 he became managing director of GAC Hong Kong, where he expanded the company’s shipping and logistics business in Southern China and Hong Kong, transforming the company into one of the most consistently profitable in the group. In the summer of 2008 he was tasked with turning around GAC Logistics UK, transforming the company result during 2009, a year of turmoil and losses for much of the industry.

Bowie then served a short term as group sales director, where he improved sales productivity and optimised resources, reducing costs by a few million dollars in a single year. This success was followed in 2011 by his return to GAC Dubai, the largest company in the group, only this time as managing director.

Before joining GAC, Bowie held several roles with well-known forwarding and shipping agencies in the UK, and then with Sea-Land Services in Saudi Arabia.
