Suzanne al-Anani

Position: CEO, Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects

Biography: Suzanne al-Anani is one of the people charged with leading Dubai’s strategy to cement its position as a world-leading aviation hub for the rest of the century. This will be achieved through the multi-phased expansion of the emirate’s new Al-Maktoum International, making it the biggest airport in the world by 2050, with the capacity to handle 255 million passengers a year.

Bids have already been invited on some of the packages for the first-phase expansion, and awards will be made in 2015. The estimated cost of building the first phase is AED120bn ($33bn), making it the largest airport construction scheme ever undertaken in the world.

Al-Anani has immense experience in handling major airport projects, having overseen expansions at Dubai International. In December, Dubai International overtook London’s Heathrow to become the world’s busiest airport for international passenger traffic.
