Turbomach to build 15MW power plant at Illizi
Algeria’s La Compagnie de l’Engineering de l’Electricité et du Gaz (CEEG) has awarded a contract for the construction of a gas-fired power plant to Switzerland’s Turbomach.
Under the engineering, procurement and construction contract, the Swiss company will install three 5MW turbines at Illizi in southeast Algeria.
Turbomach priced the contract at $89.3m when bids were submitted in late August 2009. Work on the project is due to be completed in 26 months.
Separately, CEEG is planning to build two gas turbine power plants in the east of the country, with total capacity of 500-600MW. The plants will be built at Ain Djasser in Batna province, and in F’Kirina Oum el-Bouaghi province.
CEEG is a subsidiary of state energy company Sonelgaz.
