Funds will be used for infrastructure projects
Amer Lutfi, head of Syria’s State Planning Commission has said the country is seeking World Bank financing for infrastructure projects, in a major departure from decades of economic policies that excluded international institutions, Reuters has reported. “Negotiations have started with the aim of identifying strategic projects that need financing from different parties and the World Bank could be one,” Lutfi said. “We have to focus on infrastructure if we’re to lessen the development disparities among the Syrian regions.”
