Taihan Electric bids low for Kuwait transmission work

South Korea’s Taihan Electric Company is the low bidder for a contract to supply and install 400kV ground cables in various parts of the country.

The Korean company submitted a price of KD32.2m ($121m) for the work.

Four other companies bid for the contract: Japan’s Viscas Corporation bid KD48.7m, Italy’s Prysmian Cables & Systems offered a price of KD56.1m and France’s Nexans Cable Company submitted a price of KD59.4m.

Japan’s JPower Systems Corporation submitted the highest bid at KD61m. A total of eight companies had been prequalified for the contract.

The Electricity & Water Ministry is the client (MEED 4:8:08).
