Tameer approaches contractors for tower work

23 July 2008
Sharjah-based Tameer Holding has invited contractors to express interest in the contract to build an estimated AED5bn ($1.36bn) 125-floor tower on Sheikh Zayed road.

Located next to the existing Hard Rock Hotel, the project involves the construction of a mixed-use tower with serviced apartments, penthouses and a small retail area.

It will also be the headquarters for Tameer and the company hopes to build towers based on the same design in all major cities in the Gulf.

UK-based Atkins is the consultant. US-based Morganti Group is the project manager.

Tameer recently selected the joint venture of the local Al-Habtoor Engineering Enterprises, South Africa's Murray & Roberts Contractors (Middle East) and Saudi-based Al-Rahji Contracting for the construction of the Tameer Towers project on Reem island in Abu Dhabi (MEED 4:6:08).
