TangMed to prequalify bidders

The Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency plans to prequalify contractors by 16 November for the estimated $1,400 million turnkey construction contract for the extension of the TangMed port complex, known as TangMed II.

The Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency plans to prequalify contractors by 16 November for the estimated $1,400 million turnkey construction contract for the extension of the TangMed port complex, known as TangMed II.

The expansion will cover two container terminals and two liquid bulk berths. The terminals will have total capacity of more than 5 million containers, with 1,600 metres of berths. The liquid bulk facility will have 1,200 metres of berths.

The port will be protected by two breakwaters. One will be 3,300 metres long and the other 1,200 metres. A contract award is expected in the second quarter of 2008 (MEED 20.10.07).
