Tarabot named preferred bidder on Saudi Landbridge

21 April 2008
The Tarabot consortium, led by Arabian Company for Power & Water Development (Acwa Power), has been confirmed as lead bidder for the Saudi Landbridge project.

As revealed exclusively by MEED in March, the group heads the list of four bidders, with the Tracc Consortium featuring Saudi Binladin Group chosen as reserve bidder (MEED 9:3:08).

The Saudi Railways Organsiation (SRO) has yet to make an official announcement on which group has won the contract to develop the rail line linking the kingdom's Red Sea and Gulf coasts. However, the Australian transport group Asciano, which is part of the Tarabot consortium though its rail subsidiary Pacific National, has confirmed its success and says it is in discussions with its partners on how to finance its equity stake.
