Target Engineering wins three contracts in Abu Dhabi

South Korean contractor awards Arabtec subsidiary three construction deals

Korea’s GS Engineering & Construction has awarded local Target Engineering Construction Company, a subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, contracts worth a total of AED747m ($203.4m) for construction works on three projects in Abu Dhabi.

The first project involves civil works in area four at the Ruwais Refinery expansion project. The contract has a total value of AED170m and the work is estimated to take 26 months to complete.

The scope of the second project involves the steel structure, equipment installation and piping works in area number five at the Ruwais Refinery expansion project. The 28-month contract is worth a total value of AED251m.

A joint venture of GS and the UK’s Petrofac awarded Target a AED326m contract for the third project. The work involves the structural, mechanical and piping works in the east area of the Gasco Ruwais fourth NGL Train project, and will take 28 months to complete.

These project awards bring the total value of work secured by Target in the first six months of 2010 to about AED1.6bn. In March this year, Target was awarded two marine projects in Abu Dhabi worth a total value of AED835m.

The Abu Dhabi Oil Refining Company (Takreer) awarded Target a AED358m contract to execute a sea water intake project and build associated pumping facilities.

For the second project, the joint venture of GS and Petrofac awarded Target a contract worth AED477m. The 20-month contract involves work on the Ruwais four liquefied gas train project.
