State petroleum company plans to replace steam turbine generators

Paris-based Technip has won a BD22.3m ($58.8m) contract to replace steam turbine generators from Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco).

The contract covers the replacement of steam turbine generators at the Bapco 2 power plant.

Technip was one of two companies to bid for the contract in mid-March. Australia’s WorleyParsons priced the deal at BD73.9m.

In early October, Technip bid for an estimated $500m contract to install a new gas booster station at the Asab gas handling facilities in the south of Abu Dhabi. The other bidders include the local Dodsal, Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company and South Korea’s SK Engineering & Construction.

Abu Dhabi Gas Industries Company (Gasco) is the client.
