Technip wins Dukhan acid gas deal

17 March 2008
France’s Technip has won the front-end engineering and design contract for a $250-300m acid gas removal project at the Dukhan oil field.

The company beat competition from Australia’s WorleyParsons for the six-month deal, which is being completed by Technip’s Abu Dhabi office.

Two other US companies who were considering making bids, Doris Engineering and Foster Wheeler, pulled out of the project earlier in 2008.

The enhanced oil recovery scheme aims to boost production from the onshore Dukhan field to 350,000-barrels-a-day (b/d), from about 335,000 b/d currently.

The Dukhan field contains three oil reservoirs and a fourth non-associated gas reservoir.
