Bids for first EPC package to be submitted in first half of April
Abu Dhabi’s Zakum Development Company (Zadco) has awarded France’s Technip a front-end engineering and design (feed) contract for the development of the UZ750 project to develop the offshore oilfield at Upper Zakum.
Zadco is tasked with increasing oil production at Upper Zakum to 750,000 barrel per day (b/d) by 2015. To this end, it is constructing artificial islands as a platform for oil production over the field, located 84km off the coast of Abu Dhabi.
Technip has been contracted for the front-end engineering of the process units on four artificial islands. These include gas separation, gas lift compression, booster gas compression units, while the contract also covers the feed for power generation and utilities facilities as well as interconnecting utilities pipelines. Technip will also undertake work to upgrade existing facilities, and help procure long lead items.
Technip had also won the contract for the preceding conceptual engineering work.
The feed is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2011.
