Tehran sewerage award awaits World Bank approval

01 December 2003
The World Bank is preparing to approve the award of an estimated $15 million contract to an international company for the third package on the Tehran sewerage eastern trunkline project. Bid documents for the fourth package, expected to be worth roughly the same amount, are due to be issued by mid-December.

The third trunkline package involves the installation of an 8.5-kilometre tunnel with a diameter of around 300 centimetres. Five companies bid for the contract in the summer.

The expansion of sewerage facilities in Tehran is supported by the World Bank, which is funding about 40 per cent of the project work, worth almost $350 million. The remainder is to be paid by the client, Tehran Sewerage Company.
