Helmy joins state firm from KPMG Hazem Hassan

Telecom Egypt appointed Hassan Helmy as its chief financial officer and vice-president for financial affairs.

He was officially appointed in the role from 22 September.

Helmy takes over from Tarek Tantawy, who became the company’s chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director in August.

Helmy previously worked at KPMG Hazem Hassan as senior partner responsible for the firm’s audit practice since 2005.

He is a fellow of the UK’s Chartered Association of Certified Accountants in the UK and a member of the Egyptian Society of Accountants & Auditors.

The company’s shares rose by increased by 0.5 per cent to £E18.76 ($3.38) on 22 September. Telecom Egypt is the country’s fixed-line monopoly.
