Tendering beckons on Dubai airport jobs

Selected contractors were invited to submit expressions of interest in mid-April for the largest package on the estimated $4,200 million Dubai International Airport expansion project. Known as AX 059, the package covers the finishes and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works for terminal 3, concourse 2 and the car parking structure. Initial estimates put the value of the contract at up to $800 million. The client, the Department of Civil Aviation, has also announced a three-week bid extension on another major package, covering the construction of the Dubai Air Wing (MEED 19:3:04).

AX 059, which is expected to go for bid in May, covers all architectural finishes and MEP works for: terminal 3; an underground structure covering a total area of 532,000 square metres; the open-air car park structure, which will have a built-up area of 257,000 square metres; and the 670,000-square-metre concourse 2.
