Tenders issued for 23 Marina

27 January 2006
Five companies have been invited to bid by 10 January for the main construction package on the 23 Marina tower project in Dubai Marina. The invited companies are: the local Al-Naboodah Contracting; the local/German Al-Rostamani Pegel; Oger Dubai, the local affiliate of Saudi Oger; South Korea's Ssangyong Engineering&Construction Company; and the local/German Strabag Dubai (MEED 21:10:05).
The 88-storey residential tower is being developed by Hircon International, a joint venture of the local ETA Star and India's A Hiranandani. The client had originally selected the local/Australian Nasa Multiplex to carry out the main contract, as well as to provide construction management services. However, it altered its strategy in the belief that it would get more competitive bids.

The estimated $300 million project is due to be completed in 2008. India's Hafeez Contractor is the architect; the consultant is the local office of KEO International Consultants. Swissboring, part of Italy's Trevi Group, began piling works in September.
