Saudi Electricity Company (SEC)has issued four tenders for the construction of four 380-kV substations in the south and east. Prequalified contractors have until late December to bid for each of the estimated $50 million-75 million turnkey contracts. Invited companies include Al-Fanar, National ContractingCompany, Arabian Bemco Contracting, Middle East Engineering & Development Company (Meedco)and SSEM, all locally-based, Europe's ABBand Germany's Siemens. Awards for each of the projects will be made early next year.
