Two resorts and staff accommodation to be built
The Wave Muscat has invited contractors to express interest in contracts to build two hotels and support buildings at the Omani development.
The hotels are the 253-bed Fairmont Hotel and the 300-bed Kempinski Hotel. The support buildings includes staff accommodation capable of housing 1,200 people and a laundry room.
The local/UK Carillion Alawi was the contractor for the townhouses during the first phase development of the residential district, as well as construction of the marina.
The local Al-Turki Enterprises was the contractor for the villas and general infrastructure work.
The first sector of the residential district was completed in October. In includes 133 villas and 130 townhouses.
Construction work on The Wave began in April 2007. It is a mixed-use residential and tourism project. The Wave Muscat is a joint venture between Oman’s Waterfront Investments, National Investment Funds Company and UAE based Majid Al Futtaim Group (MEED 27:3:08).
