Biography: Thomas Topalski has been vice-president and transportation director for the Middle East at the US’ Aecom since 2010. Aecom, in joint venture with the US’ Parsons Brinckerhoff and Germany’s DB International, was appointed by Abu Dhabi’s Department of Transport to conduct the study for its Etihad Rail project.

Together with the US’ Parsons International, it was also awarded the project management consultancy contract for the first phase of the federal railway and the design of the other two phases of the scheme.

Previously, Topalski worked for the US’ CH2M Hill as civil infrastructure director and general manager for its Saudi joint venture, CH2M Olayan. He has a bachelor’s degree in urban regional analysis and planning from the State University of New York College and a master’s degree in urban planning from New York University, both in the US.
