Toufic Oueida

Biography: Toufic Oueida has more than 45 years’ experience in the design and construction of major civil engineering and marine projects, especially in Qatar, the wider Middle East, Africa and the US.

Oueida graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Minnesota in the US. He then worked as structural engineer with the Minnesota Engineering Company before joining Dar al-Handasah working at its headquarters in Beirut and later in Cairo.

Oueida moved to Qatar in 1991 to work initially with the US’ Bechtel and Qatar General Petroleum Company on infrastructure projects such as the Ras Laffan and Mesaieed industrial cities.

He was acting manager for Mesaieed Industrial City Infrastructure Department from 2007 until 2009. He took up his present position as project executive director of New Doha port in October 2009.
