Transport ministry receives bids for housing work

Deals cover construction of headquarters and employee accommodation

Oman’s Transport Ministry has received bids for two building construction contracts in Muscat.

The ministry received bids from 18 groups, 15 of which are local, for the construction of a housing development for employees. It is close to Muscat International airport at Seeb.

The low bidder is local Arabian Supplies & Contracting with a price of OR4.3m ($11m). This is 8 per cent lower than the price of OR4.7m submitted by the two second lowest bidders, the local Hasan bin Juma bin Backer Trading & Contracting, and Egypt’s Tiba Engineering & Contracting.

The other bidders include Teejan Trading & Contracting at OR4.9m, Towell Construction & Maintenance Company at OR5m, and Al-Bady Trading & Contracting at OR5.2m, all local.

The ministry has also received bids from 12 local groups for the construction of a new headquarters building.

The low bidder is Arabian Technical Supplies with a price of OR2.29m ($5.95m), which is 1.7 per cent lower than Dawood Trading & Contracting Group’s offer of 2.33m. The other bidders include Al-Nahdha al-Omaniah Company at OR2.5m, Al-Bady Trading & Contracting at OR2.6m, and Dahleez International at OR2.7m.
