A joint venture of France's Degremont with the local Vinsan has signed a $49.5 million contract for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant for the Aegean tourism resort of Yenihisar, also known as Didim. The client is Yenihisar Municipality.
The project aims to cater for a population of about 400,000 during peak summer months of the tourist season. Work will involve the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, collectors, drains and a sea discharge, and will be financed by credit arranged by Degremont.
Degremont with the local Mapa was also recently awarded a $34 million contract for the Yeni Emirli water treatment plant, part of the $270 million Yesilcay water supply project for Istanbul. The client is the State Hydraulic Works (MEED 18:4:97).
