Seven international/local joint ventures have submitted bids for the Marmaris Integrated Environmental Project. The client is a partnership of the municipalities of Marmaris, Icmeler and Armutalan (MEED 17:4:98).
France's Degremont with Vinsan is clear low bidder at $77.7 million followed by Delattre Levivier, also from France, and Intes at $85.3 million. The remaining five bids were in the $85 million-110 million range. Other bidders include Germany's Lurgi and the UK's Purac. Project sources say that talks on the financial arrangements have begun between the client and the low bidder.
The contract involves:
construction of a drinking water conduit from the Sakaralti underground reservoir to boost local supplies
construction of a plant to treat wastewater from Marmaris, Icmeler and Armutalan before its discharge into the sea
construction of a solid waste plant to serve Marmaris, Icmeler and Armutalan.
