An agreement for the construction on a build-operate-transfer (BOT) basis of the Camlica hydro-electric power station has been signed between the local Ayen Enerji and the Energy & Natural Resources Ministry. The project has an estimated value of $165 million.
According to the agreement, Ayen Enerji will build the plant on the Zamanti river near the Yahyali township in the central Anatolian province of Kayseri. The plant will generate a total of 430 million kWh annually from three 28-MW units. The project calls for the construction of a regulator on the river, an 11-kilometre-long tunnel, and the powerhouse itself. It is expected to take four years to build.
