A venture of China Machinery & Equipment Corporation and the local Sistem is likely to be awarded a contract to modernise lignite (brown coal) mines, industry sources say. It is the low bidder, at about $16.5 million. The client is the state-owned Turkish Coal Mines (TKI).
The mines are the Western Lignite Mines (GLI) in Omerler and the Aegean Lignite Mines (ELI) in Eyez. The bidders, local unless otherwise stated, are:
China Machinery & Equipment Corporation (CMEC) and Sistem – $16.5 million
a Hungarian company identified as Veszprem Gepuzem with Hema Hidrolik – $28.6 million
the UK’s Gullick Dobson with MTM – $33.3 million
Germany’s Westfalia-Becorit Industrietechnik with Birlesik Celik – $34.9 million
Germany’s Saarberg-Interplan – $47.6 million.
