A consultancy contract has been signed for a project to build an international airport at Hilvan near Sanli-Urfa in the southeast with a US group comprising Airways Engineering Company, Louis Berger International, Johnson's Control World Services, and the local Yalcin Teknik (MEED 24:6:94). Client is the southeast Anatolian (GAP) regional development administration.
The US has extended a grant of $720,000 towards the $864,000 contract. Estimated to cost TL 2 million million ($64 million), the airport will have a 4-kilometre runway, a terminal with a total floor space of 10,000 square metres, and a cargo terminal.
