A joint venture between France's Degremont and the local Vinsan has been awarded the Marmaris Integrated Environmental Project being executed by a partnership of the municipalities of Marmaris, Icmeler and Armutalan. The contract is worth $77.7 million, plus a further 15 per cent to cover miscellaneous expenses.
The project involves:
construction of a drinking water conduit from the Sakaralti underground reservoir to boost local supplies
construction of a plant to treat wastewater from Marmaris, Icmeler and Armutalan before its discharge into the sea
construction of a solid waste plant to serve Marmaris, Icmeler and Armutalan.
Other bidders included France's Delattre Levivier, Germany's Lurgi and Purac from the UK (MEED 22:5:98).
