Ventures led by German companies have returned the lowest bids for the installation of a flue-gas-desulphurisation (FGD) system at the 420-MW Yenikoy thermal power plant. The client is the state Turkish Electricity Generation & Transmission Corporation (TEAS).
Steinmuller Steay with the local Tokar returned the lowest bid conforming to the client's specifications of about $50.9 million. However, Lentses Bischoff with the local Pasiner offered an alternative low bid of about $47 million. Ten ventures in all submitted bids.
A contract award is expected in about three months. Installation of the system will take about 32 months. Funding for the contract will be provided by Germany's Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau.
