A contract valued at about $57 million has been awarded to the local YapisalYapi Sanayi for the construction of a conduit to supply Istanbul with water. The client is the Istanbul Water & Sewerage Administration (ISKI).
Yapisal Yapi was low bidder out of eight comprises returning revised tenders to ISKI in March (MEED 5:4:96). It is supported by a financing package of commercial credit arranged by West Merchant Bank.
The project calls for: the construction of a water intake at Terkos lake, together with a pumping station; the laying of about 40 kilometres of steel or steel core pipeline; and procurement of seven pumps together with their installation.
