TURKEY: Keen local bidding for Ankara sewerage

Keen bidding by local companies has been registered in about $80 million worth of contracts for foul sewerage under the Ankara great channel (BAKAY) project. Client is the Ankara Water & Sewerage Administration.

Low bidders for the four contracts are as follows:

Contract 2/A, comprising 14.6 kilometres of foul sewers in diameters of 400 millimetres to 1,800 millimetres: Kolin - TL 914,076 million ($21.7 million)

Contract 3/A, comprising 20 kilometres of foul sewers in diameters of 500 millimetres to 1,800 millimetres: Tekser - TL 887,774 million ($21.13 million)

Contract 9/A, comprising 10.2 kilometres of foul sewers in diameters of 700 millimetres to 2,800 millimetres: Kayalar - TL 854,911 million ($20.3 million)

Contract 9/B, comprising 6 kilometres of foul sewers in diameters of 1,400 millimetres to 3,000 millimetres: Kayalar - TL 772,825 million ($18.4 million).

Elsewhere, Izmir municipality has received applications from around 21 ventures for a project to build a solid-waste recycling plant on a build- operate-transfer (BOT) basis. The municipality's Izmir Water & Sewerage Administration (IZSU) is also expected to reach a decision soon on the award of a BOT contract for the construction of a wastewater treatment plant, pumping station and collectors.
