Turnkey construction, commissioning and operation of the Adana east and west (Yuregir-Seyhan) wastewater treatment plants. The project entails the construction, mechanical and electrical works of the two plants as well as one year's commissioning and three years' operation and maintenance after the commissioning. The domestic and pretreated industrial wastewaters discharging to the Seyhan river and to the drainage channel will be treated. The main features of the plants are: a) Adana west - 1) project target year of 2010; 2) for an equivalent population of 1.151 million; 3) a daily flow rate of 227,346 cubic metres; 4) an influent BOD concentration of 243 mg/lt; and 5) a total BOD5 load of 55,251 kilos a day; and 2) Adana east - 1) project target year of 2015; 2) for an equivalent population of 709,500; 3) a daily flow rate of 170,940 cubic metres; 4) an influent BOD concentration of 207 mg/lt; and a total BOD5 load of 35,463 kilos a day. A full biological and activated sludge plant is foreseen for the Adana west plant with provision for optional phosphorus and nitrogen removal and space for future extension. For the Adana east plant, a full project will be prepared but in the initial stage only the mechanical treatment facilities (screens, aired grit and grease removal), is foreseen to be built. Space for the full biological treatment plant will be reserved, including space for future extension. Financed by the European Investment Bank.
