Fernas has also been commissioned to install a new 36-inch gas pipeline at Mesaieed from an existing station to help supply feedstock for the new $4,800 million Qatalum aluminium smelter and the 2,000-MW Mesaieed independent power project being planned by Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa).

The contract also covers the laying of fibre optic cables and the tie-in of new pipelines into new and existing facilities.
