Turks bid low for dam

Turkey's Ozaltin Construction is low bidder at RO 29.6 million ($75.9 million) for the contract to build the Wadi Dayqah dam, following the opening of commercial offers on 17 April. Prices were opened from four bidders, out of the eight which submitted technical offers in early January (MEED 6:1:06).

Ozaltin's bid was 32.6 per cent lower than the second lowest price of RO 43.9 million ($112.6 million) from the team of France's Vinci with Athens-based Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCC). Vinci/CCC also submitted an alternative offer of RO 44.9 million ($115.1 million). The other bidders are India's Patel Engineers & Contractors with the local Galfar Engineering & Contracting and India's Hindustan Construction.

The scope of works covers the main dam, an earthfill saddle dam, a water supply network covering Muscat and Quriyat, two pumping stations, two storage tanks, two substations and a water treatment plant. The client is the Regional Municipalities, Environment & Water Resources Ministry.
