Twin tower project planned

Kuwaiti real estate developer Mubarak Abdulaziz al-Hassawi has announced plans for a twin tower project in Manama. Estimated to cost about $30 million, the 24-storey mixed-use development will be located at the western end of the old souk and will be called West Gate Towers.

The local MI'MAR Architecture & Engineeringis the consultant and has drawn up designs. Construction work is due to begin by the end of 2004, with completion scheduled for late 2006. The north tower will house 50 residential units and associated leisure facilities, while the south tower will accommodate about 48 offices, in addition to conference and dining facilities (MEED 16:7:04).
