Government cracks down on activists involved in what it alleges is a foreign-inspired Islamic plot
The UAE has arrested eight online activists for being involved in a Twitter site that was highly critical of the government.
Government officials have said that the arrests were made in response to an alleged Islamic plot to overthrow the UAE.
The UAE has recently issued new legislation that tightens the rules regarding criticising the government via social networking sites on the internet.
