Iraq is seeking investment for the city of Karbala, in Karbala province, and Al-Husainiya province, including assistance with the construction of two new airports.
A delegation from the investment authority in Karbala has visited the UAE at the invitation of the unnamed groups, to discuss the various projects proposed for the region.
They include an airport 20 kilometres north of Karbala city, for which land has been allocated, and a new $250m airport to be built between Karbala and Najaf, serving the two holy cities (MEED 9:12:08).
