The construction industry in the UAE grew by more than 25 per cent during 2007 to contribute AED58.3bn ($15.8bn) to GDP, according to figures released by the Central Bank of the UAE.
The figures show construction is the fastest growing sector of the economy.
Projects in Dubai have driven the sector over the last five years, and are now being joined by a raft of new projects in Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates.
According to MEED Projects, $770bn of construction projects are under way or are planned for the federation.
