Missing aircraft participating in combat to restore Yemens legitimate government
The UAEs General Command of the Armed Forces announced on 14 March the loss of a fighter aircraft while participating in the Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
It is not known what type of jet fighter went missing or how many were on board the missing aircraft.
The Saudi-led military intervention in Yemen is nearing its 12th month. The UN reported in January that civilian casualties have topped 8,100, nearly 2,800 of whom lost their lives.
An estimated 2.4 million people have also been forcibly displaced due to the war. Leo Dobbs, UN High Commissioner for Refugees, had said the number of displaced people in Yemen remains staggeringly high and a cause for grave alarm.
The situation is likely to get worse, amid increasingly dire humanitarian and socio-economic conditions and with no political settlement in sight, said Dobbs.
