A special committee has been formed by the UAE health ministry to review certain drugs and classify them as narcotics which can only be purchased with a doctor’s prescription, Gulf News has reported. The move aims to maintain public health and raise awareness of pharmaceutical products to avoid negative side effects as well as to ensure there was no abuse of drugs which could lead to addiction. The committee includes the police, customs, public prosecution, sports departments and ministry of education.
