27 June 2011

The development programme aims to modernise remote areas

The UAE government is to undertake a three-phase programme to develop infrastructure in the remote areas throughout the country.

The plans were announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and ruler of Dubai on 26 June during a visit to the Public Works Ministry.

Sheikh Mohammad said the programme would involve building utilities and integrated infrastructure in remote areas to create urban areas.

“The development, for which we lay the foundation today through this comprehensive plan designed by the ministry, guarantees to meet the needs of the remote regions and rural areas in all parts of our country in healthcare, education, housing, roads, water and all the essential services,” said Sheikh Mohammed.
