Memorandum of understanding between Abu Dhabi and Dubai government agencies aims to enhance local maritime community

Abu Dhabi’s Transport Department (DoT) and the Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) have agreed to put in place unified measures for the processing of maritime permits and licenses in line with “international best practices”.

The agreement covers developing a procedure designed to deal with violations and incidents related to maritime and personal watercrafts.

“The memorandum of understanding (MoU) aims at developing the licensing and permits systems followed in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, in addition to providing DoT with the required information and services to enhance training,” a joint statement said.

“Both parties will work on cooperation opportunities … to enhance the economic growth and improve the maritime leisure sector, cruises and yachts in the UAE,” the statement adds.

DMCA recently stressed the importance of joint efforts by maritime and private sector leaders to develop solutions shaping the future of the local maritime community.
