UAE's City Cool awarded SR500m Ajmakan contract

09 November 2008
Saudi Arabia’s The Land Holding Real Estate Investment & Development company has awarded the UAE’s City Cool a SR491m ($131m) district cooling contract for the Ajmakan real estate project in Riyadh.

The contract covers the provision of 40,000 tonnes of refrigeration to cool the urban development through district cooling plants. A number of buildings will be linked via a chilled water piping network.

The project is expected to be completed in 2012.

Ajmakan is a SR9bn real estate project located in the Al-Khozama district of Riyadh and will cover approximately 2 square kilometres.

It is the second major district cooling contract for the firm in the kingdom. In June it was awarded a SR650m contract for Bay Le Sun Village in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) (MEED 23:06:08).

City Cool is a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabia’s Al-Rahji Investment Group.
