UK-based construction consultancy Turner & Townsend has won a contract to provide cost estimating, scheduling and risk management services to Abu Dhabi International airport.

The contract covers the expansion plans at the airport, including the construction of the new midfield terminal complex, as well as the redevelopment of the existing terminal facilities. Construction of the midfield terminal has begun and is due to be completed in 2017.

The contract award follows Turner & Townsend’s success at the end of last year when it secured the programme management contract for work at Muscat International and Salalah airports in Oman. The contract covers the support of delivery of operational and security systems and IT networks.

The company also won the contract to cost-manage the construction of concourse D at Dubai International airport at the end of last year.
