Six consultancies participated in the tender

Kuwait’s Public Works Ministry has selected the UK-based Mott MacDonald for the study, design and supervision contract of the 4th Ring Road improvement, construction and maintenance project.

Mott MacDonald offered KD17.8m ($58.3m) for the contract. Its local partner for the project is the Al-Dowailah Engineering Consultancy.

Offers for the project were submitted in September last year.

Five other firms are understood to have submitted an offer for the contract including UAE’s Aurecon and KEO, Spain’s Idom and Sener and Germany’s Kling Consult.

Idom and Kling are understood to have been disqualified in the technical evaluation of the offers.

In July last year, the MPW has invited 50 construction companies, including international contractors and their local agents, to bid for the road linking the 4th Ring Road with the southern part of Kuwait’s regional road.
