Contractors have started tendering for first elements of masterplanned scheme
The UKs Faithful+Gould says it has been appointed to provide project management services on part of the AED12bn ($3.3bn) Yas Bay master development in Abu Dhabi for local developer Miral.
Located on Yas Island, the Yas Bay project will be delivered in two phases. Faithful+Goulds four-year appointment is to work on phase one, which includes the Yas Arena, a multi-purpose venue with a capacity of 18,000; a 650-key hotel; as well as cafes and restaurants, retail outlets and a cinema, all expected to open to the public in 2019.
Contractors are preparing to submit commercial bids for the deal to build the multi-purpose venue on 11 June.
It is understood technical bids were submitted by contractors including Bam of the Netherlands, the local/Belgian Six Construct Abu Dhabi, and the local/European Ed Zueblin.
Phase two of Yas Bay will include a 250-key high-end hotel.
The project and programme management services that Faithful+Gould are providing include design, construction, logistics, project, programme and health safety and security (HSSE) management across pre-and post-contract phases.
