Deal will enhance state oil company’s operations and maintenance

Petrofac has secured a $35m contract with state upstream operator Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) to provision specialist technical training and competency development.

The UK firm’s engineering and production division’s training services team will execute programmes under the five-year contract, it said in a statement.

“A team of more than 30 training professionals and technical specialists from Petrofac will be embedded within KOC’s operations to deliver skills and competency-based learning and development services at the frontline of production operations,” said Karim Osseiran, vice president, training services, engineering and production services.

The programme will enable KOC to enhance the capability of its operations and maintenance personnel.

Petrofac has been successful in the Kuwaiti oil and gas sector this year. It won the main contract for the $1.3bn Gathering Centre 32 in south-eastern Kuwait, which will deal with increasing crude sourness from the Burgan field.
