Oman’s Duqm Refineries & Petrochemical Industries Complex (DRPIC) has awarded UK-based Wood Group a contract to supply two delayed coker heaters for the upcoming $7bn Duqm refinery.
Wood said the contract to provide two double-fired delayed coker heaters, modelled on its Terrace Wall patent process technology, was a ‘multimillion-dollar contract’. It did not reveal the exact value of the order.
Effective immediately, the contract will be delivered by Wood's process and technology team based in New Jersey, US.
Wood expects to complete the job in the first quarter of 2020.
The firm has done the pre-front-end engineering and design (pre-feed) and feed work on the Duqm refinery project, and has also taken on the project management consultancy.
Wood has also worked on the process technology component of the Duqm refinery project, and has licensed its SYDEC (selective yield delayed coking) technology to the project.
The overall Duqm refinery project is scheduled to be completed by 2022.
DRPIC is a joint venture of Oman Oil Company and state-owned Kuwait Petroleum International.
In February, DRPIC awarded three engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts for the three packages of the project, worth about $5.75bn.
