Lebanon shares a 375-kilometre border with Syria
US-based Parsons has been awarded more work on the Lebanon Border Security Project.
The competitively bid task order for the second increment of the Lebanon Border Security Project adds to the first increment of the project that Parsons is already working on. The scheme is aimed at improving the capabilities of the Lebanese Armed Forces to deter, detect, and interdict weapons of mass destruction and related materials on the countrys 375-kilometre border with Syria.
Parsons says the focus of project is border surveillance for land border regiments, delivering new equipment, network integration of border-security surveillance equipment, equipment-related training, and concept-of-operations-related training to enhance capabilities in command and control, communications, surveillance, and detection and interdiction of weapons of mass destruction. Parsons will also help the Lebanese Armed Forces sustain and build upon these capabilities for the long term.
The project is part of the US governments Defense Threat Reduction Agencys (DTRAs) mission to secure Lebanons border with Syria.
