At least four US companies have been prequalified for a project to rehabilitate and upgrade water facilities in Alexandria. The estimated $120 million project is being financed by the US Agency for International Development (USAID - MEED 16:8:02).
The companies following the project are understood to include ABB SUSA, Contrack International, Morganti and the Washington Group. Invitations to bid are expected to be issued by the end of November.
The work entails rehabilitation of pipelines and systems, upgrading existing water treatment plants and construction of a chlorine storage facility. US-owned Montgomery Watson Harzais the consultant. The client is the Alexandria General Water Authority.
